D epuis 1861, le Domaine du Pavillon de Chavannes offre sous l’appellation « Côte de Brouilly », un vin aux qualités reconnues, de nombreuses fois médaillé par les institutions viticoles et qui ennoblit les tables de particuliers connaisseurs, d’ambassades, d’institutions politiques et culturelles ainsi que de nombreux restaurants en France mais aussi à l’étranger. The 2017 Côte de Brouilly “Cuvée Ambassades” from Domaine du Pavillon de Chavannes is excellent and one of the “cooler” examples of the 2017 vintage I have had the pleasure to taste. The bright, complex and youthful nose jumps from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, sweet cranberry, bonfire, gamebird, stony soil tones and a fine topnote of fresh herbs. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tangy, with a tightly-knit, youthful personality out of the blocks, excellent focus and grip, a touch of backend tannin and a long, mineral-infused finish. This has lovely purity and precision for the warm summer of 2017. 2019- 2045. 92+. JUIN 2019 John Gilman View from the cellar Complex, incisive scents of fresh red berries, blood orange, allspice and candied rose, lifted by a smoky mineral nuance. Juicy raspberry, cherry and spice cake flavors are accented by a hint of white pepper; bitter orange pith and rhubarb qualities lend refreshing bitterness. Gains depth on the very long, penetrating finish, which features sneaky, fine-grained tannins.
